In order to further motivate playwrights and theatre directors, the Tanveer Natyadharmi Puraskar will be conferred upon Rajendra Chavan, from Shirgaon in Konkan, said Shreeram and Deepa Lagoo, trustees of Roopwedh, at a press conference on Tuesday. TOI : PUNE: The standing committee of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation on Tuesday approved development projects to the tune of Rs 6.2 crore. Speaking to mediapersons, committee chairperson Dnyaneshwar Bhalerao said a proposal to build a foundation for the canopy to be installed over the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in HA colony in Pimpri at an expenditure of Rs 5.50 lakh has been approved, subject to the decision of the court. The committee approved a resolution to organise a Pavana-thadi Jatra’ to provide a market for products made by women self-help groups.

TOI : PUNE: Mohansingh Rajpal of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was elected mayor on Tuesday with a comfortable margin of 44 votes. Rajpal was elected with the support of the Congress party. It was a straight fight between Rajpal, who got 89 votes and the Shiv Sena (SS) candidate Deepak Gawde who managed to get 45 votes from SS and Bharatiya Janata Party members.
